IoT Solution at Baden Swimming Pool, Canton Aargau

At any time and from anywhere I have an accurate overview of the water temperature at Baden Swimming Pool.

At Baden Swimming Pool (AG), the lifeguards were constantly pestered about the water temperature in the swimming pools. So the City of Baden took the opportunity, together with the local energy and water supplier Regionalwerke AG Baden, to provide visitors with a useful service via an IoT solution from the Switzercloud.

On a wide screen monitor located at the entrance area, or conveniently on any smartphone, bathers can check the current water temperature of any pool at any time. The individual temperatures are sent automatically to the Switzercloud via LoRaWAN© sensors where the data is processed then visualized. This solution shows how the Internet of Things can solve specific tasks efficiently and inexpensively. In addition to the bathers great contentment, operational efficiency is also increased thanks to the elimination of manual measurements & human error. A real added value for all (pool) parties!

Partner's Opinion

Christian Favre, Project Leader
Regionalwerke AG Baden

Regionalwerke AG Baden (RWB) was allowed to introduce an energy and water measuring system using the new IoT technology, LoRaWAN©, for properties in the City of Baden. The common goal was to gain experience with IoT & LoRaWAN© and to optimize the energy accounting process. Added to this was the need to measure the outdoor pools water temperature and provide this information to visitors. By partnering together with Brunata AG, RWB, acting as the total solution provider, was able to offer the City of Baden its competent system and measurement technology experience as well as inspire interest in the new IoT technology. Hence we look forward to receiving further projects and applications request in the future.

Advantages for RWB

  • RWB has its own profile on the Switzercloud, with their own account and takes care of its customers as an independant integrator. The Switzercloud is his "all purpose" IoT toolkit.
  • RWB positions itself as an innovative utility as well as a competent and local contact for IoT solutions in its supply region.
