Facility24 and Switzercloud combine facility management with IoT

Ismet Sopi is the CEO and owner of the Zurich-based company Facility24 GmbH. He had a vision to bring a smart IoT building solution to the market and needed help with the implementation. So he contacted Brunata AG, the company behind Switzercloud.

Ismet Sopi had questions about the Internet of Things (IoT) and its possibilities. He inquired about existing solutions that could be interesting for his company.

Got going very quickly

Switzercloud team organized an introduction about IoT, Switzercloud and application areas. We talked about devices, LoRaWAN®, LPWAN, cloud platform, data processing and the like. In a second workshop, we went into more detail about the functions and interfaces of the Switzercloud IoT platform.

For Facility24, it was immediately clear that the company needed its first IoT devices, which were procured and integrated into the platform by the Switzercloud team. Now it was time to get to know the entire solution to get a better picture in the context of FM. The IoT devices were installed at various locations in a building. Applications included monitoring doors, windows, movements and energy consumption. The raw data measured was collected via LoRaWAN and sent to the Switzercloud. There they are translated, processed and displayed in a dashboard. Some of the data was used to trigger further actions such as starting or stopping building systems, changing heating temperature and more. You could say: a first, small IoT building technology system.

Practical experience with the first IoT devices allowed Facility24 to realize that many needs were satisfied, but not yet all. Based on this realization, entrepreneur Ismet Sopi decided to develop his own software using Switzercloud as the technological foundation.

A third-party company was commissioned with the software development. Based on live sensor data from the Switzercloud, the new application creates and processes tasks, checklists and events.

The FacilityBox as a service

Dozens of installed IoT devices monitor various situations in customer objects and send the data to the Switzercloud IoT platform for further processing.

Using the integrated Switzercloud API, the stored raw data from facilityBOX is retrieved from the IoT platform and converted into FM-relevant information. This automatically creates tasks that are assigned to the responsible service department for processing. The entire process is clearly presented to the FM customer at all times.
